Fees & insurance · Nurture Her Therapy + Co.
Fees, superbills & your out-of-network benefits.
Therapy is an investment in yourself — so let's talk about the money part plainly, the way I wish everyone did. Fees, insurance reimbursement, and a 30-second way to check exactly what your plan gives back.

The numbers, plainly
- Therapy session — $225 · 55 minutes · weekly or as agreed
- Parent strategy session — $325 · 90 minutes · optional written plan +$125
- Free consult — 15 minutes, by video or phone, genuinely free, zero pressure
Payment is due at the time of session by card. You'll never get a mystery bill from me — the price you see here is the price.
Why I'm out-of-network (on purpose)
I don't panel with insurance companies, and it's a deliberate choice, not an oversight:
- Your privacy stays yours. In-network care requires a mental health diagnosis on your permanent record, treatment reports to the insurer, and their right to audit your file. Private pay means what we talk about stays between us.
- Your care isn't rationed. No insurer deciding how many sessions "should" be enough for your postpartum anxiety, or which approach I'm allowed to use.
- You get a specialist. Panels reward volume. Staying out-of-network lets me keep a small practice focused entirely on maternal mental health — and answer my own inquiries within the day.
Does insurance cover therapy in New Jersey? Often, yes — more than most people think. If you have a PPO plan, you likely have out-of-network benefits that reimburse a meaningful chunk of each session. That's where superbills come in — and, if you want it, an optional service called Mentaya that files them for you.

private pay doesn't have to mean paying it all yourself
How out-of-network reimbursement works, step by step
Check your benefits — 30 seconds, free
Use the checker below. It looks up your plan's out-of-network mental health coverage and tells you what percentage you'd get back and whether you have a deductible to meet. No commitment, no hold music with your insurer.
Attend sessions, pay as you go
You pay the $225 at session time, like any private-pay client.
Or let Mentaya file it for you — entirely optional
Plenty of clients just submit the superbill themselves; it's a form and an upload, and it's completely fine to do it that way. If you'd rather not think about it, I also offer Mentaya, a service that submits your superbills to insurance automatically for a 5% fee per claim. No forms, no fax machines. Use it or don't — the reimbursement is the same either way.
Money questions, answered honestly
Do you take insurance?
I'm out-of-network with all insurance plans — but that's not the same as "insurance won't help." Most PPO plans reimburse 50–70% of each session through out-of-network benefits, and I make claiming it easy with monthly superbills — plus an optional service, Mentaya, that will file them for you if you'd rather not. The checker on this page will tell you your plan's exact numbers.
What's a superbill?
A superbill is a detailed receipt with the codes insurance needs to process an out-of-network claim. You submit it yourself — or, if you prefer, the optional Mentaya service submits it for you — and your insurer reimburses you directly at whatever rate your plan pays.
What if I have an HMO or no out-of-network benefits?
HMO and EPO plans usually don't reimburse out-of-network care — the checker will tell you honestly if that's your situation. Some clients use HSA/FSA funds instead, which typically can be applied to therapy. If cost is the deciding factor, tell me on the consult; I'd rather problem-solve with you than have you disappear.
Is the 15-minute consult really free?
Really free. It's how we both figure out whether we're the right fit — you can ask anything, including more money questions. You don't have to decide a thing on the call.
